The scene with the goblets was just heart wrenching, very good.

I love how close Arthur and Merlin have been getting these last few episodes. I really like the way Arthur has been changing but can still have his witty banter with Merlin at the same time.
I so nearly thought we would get a shirtless scene though! Bradley James has turned out to be the biggest tease ever!

Aww, it was a lovely episode. Very sweet and funny. I love how close Merlin and Arthur have become - it was predictable but my heart still swelled when Arthur decided to sacrifice himself for Merlin. Also, a little random sidenote: my dad saw the actor who played Anhora in our local cafe the other day.

I really like how Arthur really is the opposit of what we saw him in the first episode (imo) he proves basically in every episode that he would become a good king. I was kinda hoping before the episode that Arthur killed the unicorn by mistake, but it was only his desire, hmpf. The goblet scen, love! couldn't help at laugh when merlin ate the beetles "this doesn't taste anything like chicken" and arthur got revenge on the rat, by eating him (well, a small bit at least) and unicorn lives in the end ^^ is that maze for real, or just cgi? next episode looks interesting.. *forgot to add: the friendship between them really tightens, this episode no exception, and at some point, Arthur should learn to listen Merlin, no? "is that a compliment?"

Wow, great ep as usual. Really slashy tension and angst, which I enjoyed.
The stew scene killed me. Really. XD

Very slashy. It was also quite funny, which improved it for me. Of course, I prefer the darker episodes.

As I predicted when I saw the trailer - the unicorn bits bothered me. But if you ignore the unicorn bits entirely and just assume Arthur has dones something a bit prattish and got a curse then the episode is wonderful. The magically revived unicorn at the end made me want to hurl.
Otherwise the Merlin/Arthur chemistry is getting better and better (i.e. more slashy with every episode). My flatmate, who has the worst gaydar on the planet, even turned to me in this episode and said "why don't they just make them boyfriends and have done with it"!
Loved the goblet scene even though I and the rest of the viewing audience must have figured out the solution 10mins before our heroes did! Also loved the hilarious rat stew scene and am dying to know if they actually fed it to Morganna!

I quite liked the unicorn bits, apart from the bit where it came back to life at the end. I thought that was really cheesy.

I'm ambivalent toward unicorns, tbh. But the whole "unicorns can only be approached by a, um, maiden" thing kinda makes me wonder about Merlin in canon

I quite liked the unicorn bits, apart from the bit where it came back to life at the end. I thought that was really cheesy. I was going to say the same. It was good, and believeable until they ruined it by bringing it back to life. They could've happily let it stay dead really... Anyway, yeah I liked the slash and the rat stew scene! Greatly ended when Morgana asked for it. Poor mousey though
